Digging up an old thread here but has anyone gone through with backbox removal on the 3.0tdi? I've got mine booked in next month for either tips change or tips an back box removal (straight through in place) have heard some 3.0tdis on youtube with backboxes removed and liking the sound, just want to see if anyone has done this and what there experience was?

Cheers,
Jonny

If its anything like a lot of 3.0tdi vids on youtube I'm sold on the sound, i thought 280 was reasonablish, did you notice a reduction in lag when you put your foot down due to reduced backpressure? The money would just go to the wife so may as well spend when I can

haha I think Audi made an exhaust refined for luxury and some of us just crave a bit more engine noise and power, I'm going to wrap up the boxes and put them in my loft for hoarding purposes lol your spare exhaust might come in handy one day, can't wait to get a bit more performance/less acceleration lag

I wonder if there are any implications to doing this with the new MOT test that came in a couple of weeks ago and the major changes to exhaust checks and diesel emissions.
