As we are all too acutely aware it’s now over 2 years since your intrepid organisers returned from the Scottish Borders, where amongst talking to the hotel about covid-19 and how we and they may be affected , we put together a wonderful agenda for what has now become the 2022 meet. Kelso, where we will be based this year, is a lovely traditional Borders market town, complete with cobbled streets and a great choice of local shops etc, also recent winners of the prestigious Rising Star Award at the Great British High Street 2019 Awards, beating other nominees from across the United Kingdom. Whilst the hotel is in the middle of the town it backs onto the River Tweed providing a spectacular view from the rear of the hotel. Activities include a visit to the Jim Clark museum in Duns, a beautiful drive in the scenic Scottish Borders around the lovely driving roads we have mapped out. Some of the points of interest along the way are also linked to Jim Clark.
Evening activities may include whisky tasting and other typically Scottish “stuff”. Sunday’s activities include a stopover at a spectacular castle where we hope to have it confirmed that we will have the permission granted previously for us to line the cars up on the driveway immediately in front of the Castle for a stunning photo opportunity. After the Castle visit it is hoped our sponsors will offer us the opportunity to drop into their “big shop” to pick up anything you might need. At the moment the hotel are honouring previous bookings, however it would help us in our discussion with the hotel if those who have not yet confirmed on here could do so ASAP. Also we would strongly recommend those of you who have never been to an annual meet before to come along, they are fantastic events. Please, as many as possible of you try and make it along, you will not be disappointed.

We have been informed by the hotel in Kelso that on the weekend of our planned annual meet a major celebration event will be held for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, including a re-enactment of the Queen’s coronation. This will obviously impact on our ability to come and go from the hotel as many of the surrounding roads will be closed over the weekend. There will also be a visit from the Borders Vintage Automobile Club and a gathering of the Scottish National Scooter Rally so the town will be extremely busy. Given the potential disruption to our plans, and to be honest a very poor confirmed turnout from the Forum (5 cars) we have been looking at other options. If we cancel all deposits paid will be forfeited so we think the best option is to postpone the event until June 2023, that way all bookings and deposits will be carried forward by the hotel. It’s very disappointing to have to make this decision but, given the chaos and rescheduling of long postponed events in all our lives, we hope that some mini meets can be arranged this year.
PS It’s also unlikely at this stage that the three organisers, myself, David and Stephen will be able to attend in June this year.

That's a shame, but given the Jubilee holiday weekend and consequent celebrations there was a certain inevitability about it.
![]() We were about to book an extension to that holiday but haven't so will now revert to plan B. Do we need to do anything individually about existing hotel bookings/deposits at Ednam House?

Oh no
![]() Understandable in the circumstances. We've booked the time off, as well as a visit to Mackies, so we will still be coming up for that, will likely book something else around Scotland or Lake District maybe if anyone wants a mini meet? (I'm thinking we may even use the booking at the Kelso hotel, will talk with Anely and confirm over this weekend) @Jim, we'll need to discuss your reservation that I took over

However, given that our 'base' would be in the heart of all this and with the to-ing and fro-ing of a convoy, I think it was a wise but painful decision for the organisers to make.
