Is windscreen surround trim still available?
Hi. I’m still on my original windscreen, but it has now got its first stone crack.
The trim is quite pitted and corroded, and the rubber edge is perishing. Are these still available from Audi? Cheers, Zip |
It's out of stock everywhere and nla, this doesn't mean Audi tradition won't make a batch again.

I had difficulty with this a few years ago, but found the trim in the US. Can’t remember who supplied it as it was through Autoglass, I think. Might be worth asking on the US A8 sites

Not new, but the forum sponsors have one available:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174494329150 Note that the trim is riveted in place (see image). Part number for the trim is 4D0853299F. |
The clips for the trim are rivetted. The trim itself is pressed in to the clips :)
The clips can only be changed with the glass out, and the lower ones tend to go rusty so if you have access to a rivet tool and are planning to change the glass its worth getting hold of a few spare clips (from Tradition via Prestige) and special blind rivets just in case. |
No Doubt I will be looking for/swapping one very soon.
Have been using some of the info at the bottom of this post here as a guide: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showpost....0&postcount=86 |
Thanks all. I had a long chat with the Autoglass guy who did my wife’s windscreen on Wednesday, and he said the D2 windscreens are a pain to do, and said it was worth me booking it to one of their branches rather than doing it on the drive.
I suppose I can always repaint the trim. What about the rubber seals inside and outside the trim? Are they attached to the trim? They definitely need replacing. Zip |
I assume this is what I need…?
Does this include the rubber seals inside and out, I wonder? https://shops.audi.com/en_GB/web/tra...853297c-01c-14 Cheers, Zip |
